Friedrich,

Gerardus Mooyman was Dutch. Born in 1923, he signed up for the SS in 1942. As a member of 14.(PAK)/SS-Freiwilligen Legion Nederland he fought (amongst others) in the battles near the Ladoga lake. After the first day of Soviet attacks, the Dutch saw that the russians were digging in a PAK gun near their own lines. At night, Mooyman crawled over there and blew the thing up. Next day the Norwegian SS unit on their flank was attacked and Mooyman made his 13 kills with his PAK that day. He had 21 kills altogehter. He was awarded the RK on Feb. 20 1943.

The German propaganda made great use of this. Himmler had said that the first foreign RKT should be a Dutchman, and he got his wish. Mooyman was sent on a promational tour all over Holland to induce enlistment in the SS. His nickname became 'Der Panzerjaeger'. All in all he won: EKII (04-02-1943), EKI(10-02-1943), Ostmedaille 1941-1942, Verwundeten Abzeichen in Silber, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen, Panzervernichtigungs Abzeichen, RK.

He survived the war to become a house-painter. He was killed in a car accident in 1987.
