I get the idea that the Germans were VERY good at cponcealing their artillery in some cases...
One of the more interesting aspects of the story of "Anzio Annie"- the K5 Railroad gun now seen at Aberdeen Proving Grounds- is that the allied air forces never found it! Throughout the Anzio beachhead, Anzio Annie pounded the allied positions. And yet the gun was captured in perfect condition, because allied aircraft
had never found and attacked the gun.
Obviously, as Erich mentions, despite the massive size of some of these guns, they actually could be hidden from the enemy!
