Patton's drive on Bastogne, although a great performance, wasn't quite the unstoppable 'blitzkrieg' some writers would have us believe.
His choice of route has been criticised. Which alternative route may have been easier for the 4th Armored Division, and may have allowed Patton to make good his 'in Bastogne for Christmas' boast ?
