"Operation Mr. Black" was the answer. There were two coinciding("Operation Mr. Green" being the other operation)attacks made in the 3rd Division sector on the 23rd-26th of April 1944, to extend the beachehad out and to give the 3rd Division a place to observe their artillery fire.

Okay next question....Who was the first unit into Berchtesgaden, Germany and the "Eagles Nest" at the end of the war in Europe?

Two hints: (1) They were suppose to go to Salzburg, Austria however, they diverted to Berchtesgaden to take the "Eagle Nest" as the last great prize since it was in their sector. And (2) It wasn't Easy Co., 506th PIR 101st Airborne Division....

Take your best shots....

Regards,
MARNE
