This topic is about Science, not technology, much less military prowess; therefore I still fail to see how "German scientists were ahead of the rest of the world" in terms of pure science. This is a pretty sweeping statement, exactly which branch/branches of scientific thought do you mean?

Perhaps this will do as a primer Deutsch Physik unless you mean other branches such as entomology or even another very interesting approch such as this, encompassing very useful research on human body behaviour on high altitude, freezing, malaria, bone regeneration, typhus, etc.
