Hi to all,
thanks lazybather for your assistance, much appreciated!
Historical Disclosures at Glasgow has found my father-in-law in their records from the brief info we had, so success!
He served in The Queens Regiment and his service no was 6153424. They sent the usual info that they don't hold as much info as everyone thinks they do but we will still pay the £30 and see what we get back. They have also suggested we try the Regimental War Diaries held at Kew for info about his experiences & theatre of war info. So another avenue to explore.
As always thanks to all for your help and I'll keep you informed when I get more info.
I'm going with Noth Africa for his war years, just a hunch as he went to Rhodesia to live in 1945 after being demobbed, returning to Britain in 1975.
Cheers!
