Sinc the plate has a function control for an intervalometer and flares I wonder if it was used in a plane modified to perform reconnaissance or bomb damage assessment? I have seen pictures of the photos used for the BDA but I am unaware what plane or planes were used. I know of some models of different planes that were specially modified by the manufacturer, but I imagine that there were ad-hoc modifications too.
