Alexander B. Rossino´s book

On operation Tannenberg

Now that we´ve been discussing the jews and Russians´ treatment during operation Barbarossa, I found this interesting book on how the Germans prepared the co-operation between SD, SS and Wehrmacht during the attack in Poland.

After reading this book I think one cannot make too many assumptions on the relations between Heer and the SS and such in operation Barbarossa only ( or operation Marita ) because these things were organised first during the Polish campaign. How much the Heer tried to fight against and wanted to fight can be read here, I think. Very interesting though sometimes quite awful.

The cover , it says, has a pic of Leni Riefenstahl crying after seeing jews ( Polish?) being shot. So she must have known actually what was happening...??
