Better late than never, hopefully . . .
Yet again, the recommended books are Carell, 'Hitler's War On Russia' and 'Scorched Earth', both of which cover these campaigns from the German viewpoint in considerable detail.
There's no doubt, if you are researching the Eastern Front, these two books are essential.
And yes, von Manstein devotes a chapter of his memoirs to the campaign '... to commemorate my Comrades of the Crimean Army'. His book was first published in Germany in 1955 as 'Verlorene Siege' and in English in 1958 as 'Lost Victories'. It was most recently reprinted by Greenhill Books in 1987.
