Kai, I can throw one MORE explanation into the mix!
I remember seeing something on )I believe) the History channel about Hitler's body/death. One of their theories- the "doppleganger" had nothing at all to do with Hitler or the bunker! This show put forward the theory that the body displayed in that photo was simply a body found NEAR the scene which happened to resemble Hitler slightly. With all insanity happening in Berlin in the last days of the Reich, people were being killed left and right. The show I saw put forward the theory that the "doppleganger" was simply one of the many germans killed during the fighting for Berlin. When the russians found the body in the vicinity of the Bunker, they made the immediate assumption that it could have been Hitler.
I do think though that this "doppleganger" was discredited rather quickly, no? I was under the impression that whoever the "doppleganger" was, the russians figured out rather quickly that it was not Hitler.
