There isn't much in the Republic, as it was neutral in WW II. In spite of this, nearly 80,000 men from the then Free State enlisted, including 5,000 who "deserted" from the Free State Army to do so.
If you are in Dublin, do visit the National War Memorial Garden at Islandbridge on the west side of the city. It commemorates the Irish dead of both world wars, and is really lovely.
In Northern Ireland, there are military museums in Armagh (Royal Irish Fusiliers), Ballymena (Royal Irish Regt.) Belfast (Two: North Irish Horse and Royal Ulster Rifles) and Enniskillen (Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers). You can get more information at
