The actor in question had changed his name from Hans Gudegast to Eric/Erich Braeden. He played the Afrika Korps Hauptmann in the TV series: The Rat Patrol. He also was in the TV series: "COMBAT" on many occasions. He was also the whistle-blower in that scene in Kelly's Heroes.

A good movie with him still as Hans Gudegast is called: "Death Race." Had him as a DAK tank Commander--Doug McClure as a Allied Fighter Pilot and Lloyd Bridges as a DAK General who goes crazy.
