I feel compelled, as a student of history, to point out some things about salt and history. I would find a show on the history of salt fascinating. Do you realize that salt has had an historical impact of real significance? Much more so than say, the Sherman tank, or blitzkrieg, or a British Mosquito, or the Battle of Stalingrad. Do you earn a salary? The word salary comes from the Latin word Salarium, which comes from the Latin for salt. Roman legionairies were paid a "salarium" as part of their pay. This was a pre-determined amount of salt. My point is that salt was much more important to the people of antiquity than most people realize.

The above example is a minor episode in the story of salt in history. Salt played major roles throughout the history of mankind.
