I find CM tiring too, and quite frankly that is something I can do without now.
It's not the same thing, obviously, but I like Talonsoft's East Front / West Front / Rising Sun much more satisfying overall. However these seem to be pactically 'abandonware', although there are some people who faithfully cling to them, see

Of course no doubt CM is a heck of a much better simulation, the mechanics are excellent. My only gripe is my life won't allow me time to enjoy it properly, which is not the game's fault.
