Turkey is going to buy 100 jets, some parts of them will be produced in Turkey. The cost of that purchase is about 10 billion dollars. I don't know how much it will cost for the U.S.
An interesting characteristic of F-35: "Lockheed Martin developed the idea for a Short Take-Off Vertical Landing (STOVL) lift system that uses a vertically oriented Shaft Driven Lift Fan (SDLF)."

I must say that modern war will cost too much...
