It's a little bit twisted to compare an innocent sentenced to death and an accident.
A death sentence is NEVER an accident, it is the deliberate and fully "aware" result of a judicial process which is supposed to determine 1) if Joe is guilty and, if he is, 2) what sentence he deserves.
But maybe you can say that executing an innocent is a kind of big hug to the real criminal
