Lightbulb Reputation/Prestige System Guide

It's come to my attention that many Rogues are somewhat unfamiliar with the whole reputation system, so I've decided to give a little tutorial about exactly how it works.

There are two related factors, one is Reputation Power, and the other is Reputation Score. Reputation Power is what allows a member to build another member's Reputation Score.

Every one of you Rogues has a rating called Reputation Power. This is a number that reflects the number of points that a member can award another member when they add a reputation comment to a post. For example, let's say my Reputation Power is 5. If were to read a great post by Martin Bull and then decide to add a positive reputation comment to his posts, Martin would have 5 points added to his Reputation Score. If I had left a disapproving message, Martin would have had a 5 point deduction to his reputation score.

When a member joins the WWII Forums, their Reputation Power is zero. There are however several ways that your Reputation Power can increase:

Seniority: For every 365 days a members has served on the WWII Forums, you get +1 to your Reputation Power.

Posts: For every 1,000 posts a member makes on the Forums, you get +1 to your Reputation Power.

Earned Reputation
: For every 1,000 points of reputation a member earns, you get +1 to your Repuation Power.

As an example, esteemed Rogue Martin Bull joined the WWII Forums on June 20, 2002. He has served here 1,815 days, this earns him 4 years of Reputation Power Points. On June 20th of this year, he will have hit 5 full years, and that will go up one more point to 5. Martin has also made 7,379 total posts, this earns him an additional 7 Reputation Power Points. Finally, since the Reputation System is very new, Martin has earned only 86 Reputation Points from other members who have decided to give positive feedback on his posts. This does not earn him any addition Reputation Power points. So now we add 4 + 7 + 0 for a total Reputation Power of 11. So every time that Martin Bull gives someone a comment he has the power to add or subtract 11 Reputation Points.

All in all it's a fairly simple, the longer you serve and the more active you are on the Forums, the more power you have to effect the reputation of other members.

I've already tasked Peppy with coming up with a better, more military graphical symbol to represent Reputation Score, rather than a tiny colored square.

As a sidenote, I'm toying with the idea of changing the name from the Reputation System to the Prestige Rating System or something similar. This name was inspired by the fantastic WWII strategy game Panzer General (1994).

I hope this helps some of you reputation-phobic Rogues...
