At long last here is Bob's photo. In the centre of the front row is Bob Giffin and on his left is his bomb aimer "Buck" Bennet. I'm still hoping to find the names of the rest of the crew.

Yes, that is a cactus. It's been sitting in that pot for eight years, never needs watering. You are correct, it is a morning glory with pink/purple blooms. My wife was pleased by your observant eye. Thanks Erich.
