The Cruel Sea
I've just read The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat.
It's a very lively and interesting book about the Atlantic war, which recounts the experience of members of a crew of British anti submarine ships.
Althought it's not full of technical details, it's very good at depicting how this aspect of the war was felt at the time and also the impact it had on the people involved.
Overall this is a rather sad a grim book, leaving a feeling of waste and loss, like all book about war should.
