The
US Army centre for Military history is probably well worth a look, particularly the
bookshelves section.
There's a document called 'Command decisions' on
this page that looks like it might be an interesting place to start & the '
Ground forces studies' also seem relevant.

The Army Ground Forces Studies (AGF) were prepared during the course of World War II and published immediately thereafter. The objective was to give an account of wartime activities from the Command's perspective, presenting the difficulties, lessons and mistakes uncovered in its operations.

The site's been 'upgraded' since I last visited and it seems to still be in progress, some documents don't appear to open on first click but always seem to on the second.
Hope that's of some use.
Cheers,
Adam.
