Marshall Islands EOD
A little military history about the Islands can be found
here
.
Today, the islands are littered with unexploded ordnance.
Spot the grenade? Click image for full size.
Japanese bunker destroyed by US Navy shelling.
Japanese 50mm knee mortar round. The markings indicate it's a type or model 88 fuse.
.50 cal linked ammunition - corroded but still hazardous.
USMC dog tag. Official records indicate the Marine who owned the tag fought on the Marshall Islands, but was later killed on Saipan.
Typical example of the UXO on the Marshalls.
Arisaka 6.5 X 50 mm round.
Only one way to dispose of this type of matériel.
