Mr. Barzarin, one of the youngest Generals of the Soviet Army, served as a commandant of the defeated Berlin from April 28th to June 16th, 1945. ( died in a car crash, sniped? I didnīt find the "true story" ).

First Soviet Commandant of Berlin Put on the "Honorary Citizens" List Again - Pravda.Ru
On June 16, 1945 he died in a motorcycle accident in a truck convoy in Berlin. Full story is unknown to me too.
