Hi E, sorry I had not seen this thread before but, yup, Otto is now the proud "Papa" of the cards I had as well as about 43 or so photo's from a soldier who was in the 44th I.D. which was destroyed at Stalingrad, and then reformed from the surviving cadre, only to be destroyed a 2nd time later in the war. If I recall, several of these photos were copies made by the person who was in charge of the 44th I.D. Vets Association.
Boy, talk about something that took place long ago, the buying of these pics from me happened I think about 7-8 years ago?
If I correctly recall, I think Otto (years ago) had said he was going to make a place on this site for collections of photo's to be posted. Reminding hint hint, were still anxiously waiting ;-D
BTW, I think I also made copies of many of my photos and sent them to Sensei Otto as well. Otto, you can step in here anytime and correct or refresh my memory; anytime you deem it necessary ;-)) I've made many copies of many of my pics over the years and I have no idea what all I sent to Otto. I don't think I sent him any of the U 181 pics I have-both from the war, and at the Vets reunion in Bad Camberg. I also have a few single pics that a few of the vets who could not attend because of health reasons, sent to me as well. I have a very cool one that I got from Franz-Josef Hawran, shortly before he passed away. This photo showed him wearing tropical uniform, sporting a full beard, wearing gloves standing on the conning tower leaning against an MG-34 and grinning from ear-to-ear. By far, this is one of my most favorite photos in my collection.
