Why did Hitler believed that Japan would attack Russia?

Is it because Hitler knew/thought that Japan wanted Russia out of the Soviet Union?

Japan did go for the natural resources in Southeast Asia. Japan was smart enough to realise that in Russia was nothing worth the trouble.

But why did Hitler believed that?

[There was an agreement in 1941 that neither Japan or Russia would fight against eachother. (Russia declared war on Japan on the last days of the war because of an agreement with the U.S)]
