For share you could use the thumbnails images option of the webs dedicated to this task.

is a thumbnail, for example. And is a photo make with my camera Sony DSC-P-52, followed resizing with Power Toys of Microsoft, a few of retouch contrast and brigth, recut the borders and posted in
Imageshack.

For minimize the size in Kb, adjust the resolution of your scanner at 200x200 pixels. Its very aceptable for display in monitors, not for print.
