Common practice to shoot up a wreck. Also common (for troops (Americans+) with lots of ammo and not real sure of the ability of their guns) to shoot three times, (at the same target) no matter what. At least my Uncle told this story.
There are many holes in that thing boggies, apron armor, lower hull, even the mantlet, and that's just the starboard side.
