This is a fascinating topic, Nick - I hope that you will be able to add more.

The history of Gilze-Rijen ( and of other Netherlands airfields ) is of great historic interest.

( A smaller, lesser-known event at Gilze-Rijen : 'Dambuster' Lancaster AJ-S ( ED865 ) flown by P/O L J Burpee RCAF crashed on the airfield en route to the Dams. None of the crew survived ).
