Found this in the Hinchcliffe book in the latter part:

The Bf 110, in its zerstörer and night-fighter versions had been his regular mount since June 1939, and it was the type of aircraft in which he had scored all but a few of his 95 kills to date. Now ( May 1944 ) he was converting to the standard aircraft flown by NJG3, the JU 88, and according to his log book he never flew the Bf 110 operationally again.

From now on ( May 1944 ) his regular aircraft would be the Junkers 88 G-6 D5+ AA.
