Skipper,

We didn't have much time for anything like that, as far as hunting goes, we were the hunted at that point in the war. We carried in some food and water, I don't recall eating on very many of those patrols, while we were on what the navy used to call "landing parties", rations we did have were intended if our departure was delayed, that happened a few times.

One landing that comes to mind required us to go ashore and set up wooden stakes with ribbons on them, to give the japs the impression we had been there as a survey team prior to a landing. we left two rubber boats behind half covered by palm leaves, to keep any patrols busy when they found our markers on the beach. We also left a device behind, which use fused to detonate a few hours after we were gone.
