As a very small anecdote to that, some years ago I went to Arnhem with Holts - and the expert guide was Maj-Gen Tony Jones RE ( who removed the explosives from Nijmegen Bridge ).
He told me that whenever he watched the film, he was very irritated when Gould bellows at the British soldier
'Have you ever built a Bailey Bridge, son...?'
'I'd have shouted back
Of course I have, you bloody fool ! What the hell d'you think we've been doing all the way from Normandy....? ' said the General.....
