Before we took Noemfoor, we landed on Biak, there were thousands and thousands of japs, we had tanks supporting us, so did the japs but they were no match for the Sherman's. The island had caves which the japs used as bunkers, the japs had small two wheeled 75mm guns we called mountain guns, caves had those tall tripod fitted heavy machine guns crossing fire with one or two other caves, supported by light machine guns in the brush firing about a foot off the ground. They shot the hell out of us on that island.
