Default Re: The Battle of Glieres

A terrible story. They resisted for weeks with a few guns and basically ended up fighting with sticks. They have been abandonned and fough to the death. They never got the weapons they expected from the allies. The reason "too early and if all the resistance gets killed, too early they won't be able to help for D-Day", so these brave guys were sacrified for the sake of others. On the whole it is not 150, but 400 maquisards who died if you take into account the tortured ones and the ones who were deported and executed.
