By Order HV 35 Nr. 282: May 7th 1935. Four groups of Chaplains were established.

1) Heeresoberfarrer (as Armed Forces Officials)
2) Heeresfarrer (same as above)
3) Standortfarrer i.H. im Hauptamt - Garrison Chaplains - which was a fulltime job.
4) Standortfarrer i.N. im Nebensamt - Garrison Chaplains (with a secondary job) Civilian Chaplain - with a parttime job as a Military Chaplain.

Heer Kriegsfarrer (Army Wartime Chaplain)
Mgr - Messenger.

Insignia on Chaplains uniforms would be the Breast Eagle on the right side of tunic above tunic pocket. They wore no rank insignia but did wera Officers Collartabs with the Purple Waffenfarbe branch color.

A small Gothic Cross was worn under the eagle but above wreath and Kocarde of the peakes Visored cap.

Battalion staff was usually six officers.

Four classes of Kriegsmarine Chaplains.

By Order of MV 36 Nr. 126: January 25th 1931, Four groups of Navy Chaplains were established.

1) Marineoberfarrer (Active official, same as Army)
2) Marinefarrer (same as above)
3) Standortfarrer im Hauptamt i.H. (Fulltime Garrison Chaplain.)
4) STandortfarrer im Nebensamt i.H. (Civilian Chaplain with a parttime job as a Navy Chaplain.) Their primary job was as a Navy Chaplain) [Same as Army]

Marinekriegsfarrer - Navy war Chaplain.


At least one Chaplain won the Knights Cross-who was: Major Wilhelm Beck, commanding officer os 104th Artillery Regiment in the D.A.K. [[If Paul does not see this i'll have to check "The Book" to see if this is correct]]

German Chaplains weere usually attached to the Medical Units of Field Hospitals. There were two Bishops appointed as Feld Bischofs.

The leading Kriegsmarine Deacon was: Dienstalteste Marinedekan (Leading Navy Deacon) Friedrich-August Ronneberger.
