it is because of the Baroque architecture of the time and who was Prinz during those very interesting and flamboyant days, Dresden was a principality unto itself for many years in Saxony, opulence to the extreme and the city showed it in a masterful way through it's buildings including close at hand Meissen. The locals are doing a beautiful job of rendering the buildings as they once were pre-war
