From what I've seen, he lists the main model kit, any after-market detail kits that he used (i.e. Eduard, Verlinden, etc.) and notes 'scratchbuild' if he added any scratchbuilt details above and beyond that.

I have no idea why HE uses metal barrels - if it was me, it would be because I dropped the plastic 'kit' barrel, stepped on it and broke it into three pieces, cursed a blue-streak as I bent over to pick up the shattered pieces, bumped my hobby table with my more-than-ample butt and knocked over two bottles of model paint and a tin of thinner which immediately engulfed all of my freshly painted pieces and melded them together into a solid lump of finely detailed plastic garbage, which I immediately scoop up with both hands, dump into the dustbin and go get myself a beer and watch WWII movies.

But, hey.... that's just me.
