For those of you interested in the latest research concerning this mighty battleship, I can recommend "Tirpitz-Hitlers last battleship", by John Asmussen and Kjetil Aakra. The book was published one year ago, and according to my last information from author Kjetil Aakra, there are aproximately 100 books left.
The book has norwegian/english text:
- Tirpitz-boka English

Tirpitz a 'participant'?
So how many allied ships did she sink, in the that matter even engage? Jus like her sister the Bismarck she did nothing and could have never done anything in the long run. The 'Starving Britain Dry' thought, should never had been considered by the Germans, they did not opossess the surface ships nor submarines to sink the amount of transports the americans and british could churn out, the amercians made I transport every month from only one factory I read.
As for the Tirpitz, even if she ganged up with the Bismarck, prinz Eugen, Sharnhorst, Graf Spee and all those other BattleCruisers, Pocket Battleships, Heavy Crusiers, Light Crusiers , destroyers and auxillery ships the Kriegsmarine possessed they could never hope to beat the Royal Navy, EVER. They Germans wasted there valuable industrial resources building up there navy against a fair superior and already built up navy.
My opinion is the Tirpitz and Bismarck are hailed as being the best mut in reality did nothing of importance.
