I always thaught it was interesting that the insides of the track are more worn than the outsides (look at the cleats on the track face). I guess when they went from rubber rimmed wheels to steel ones the weight distrabution changed a bit. Seeing as the track wear is unequal im going to make a guess that it is not just postwar disintegration.
