Not sure why the author chose to even bring this up, as
1-The STO has nothing to life in occupied Paris at his time, and
2-The STO began in summer of 1942, long after these images were taken.
In fact, at the time these images were taken, hardly anyone had been deported from France, whether they were Jews or STO deportees. How does this compare with images taken in Paris in 1943 or 1944? Indeed, "Oh what a lovely war" is a very inaccurate and misleading description.
