I sent off for his record, but recieved a letter saying it was destroyed in the 1973 fire, but they can send me a final pay voucher. What would be on the final pay voucher? My husband who was in the Army says it will be just like his LES. Will this final pay voucher tell me what unit he was assigned to?

Similar to the current LES. It is a receipt of his final pay which will show what unit he was assigned to when discharged, the pay period and last held rank. Here's a sample:
