Default Re: US Detachment 101

Really good stuff! I am from the Ledo Area of Assam and there was a massive American Dump here for supplying China in 1942-45. Unfortunately nothing is to be seen today. Btw Phil Cochran, Carl Eifler, Frank Merrill and Joseph Stilwell are sort of legends in this area. There is also a "Stilwell memorial Park" near Ledo. Btw a few years ago a cemetery was discovered in deep jungle in the area with about a 1000 graves. Most of these are reported to be of Chinese soldiers fighting under Stilwell and also of Americans who built the Stilwell Road to China. The road has since disappeared after being abandoned after the war.

The sprawling tea plantation property In Nazira Assam where OSS Detachment 101 set up their base and trained, is however still standing!

Am actually starting a thread on the old American wartime road.
