Well, I've got some news, gents. We've all been very wrong about some of our discussions regarding armored vehicles in WW2. The Jagdtiger being the heaviest fighting vehicle of the war at about 72 tons? Not even close.
Fleischer/Eiermann's "The German Sturmgeshutze in World War II" (Translated, Schiffer, 99) clearly states in a caption to the upper photo on pg. 13:
"The 300HP Maybach engine gave the self propelled mount (Stug III),
which weighed 119.6 tons, a maximum speed of 40kph."
Anyone else have any good ones offhand? This one gave me a good chuckle...
