Always liked the 'sound' of The Deerhunter too.

'War themes' are quite odd of late, the (In my opinion) rather overblown style of soundtrack used on Saving Private Ryan, and carried onto Band of Brothers, seems to have made it impossible to screen any war drama without a very similar chord-heavy noise roaring in the background.

ah yes, cross of iron...I was 11 years old when this came out and my father just refused to take me to see it...it would be 7 years later when I finally got to see this on video tape. its still a good film IMHO and that german kids song does get stuck in your head for days...
