This American aircraft first flew on Nov. 17, 1943 and was built out of a conglomeration or parts from other existing production aircraft. Parts came from the P-51, Dauntless, P-40, and Corsair. It had contrarotating props and an Allison liquid cooled engine. 2500 were ordered before it ever flew and it was to have a long range escort mission.
