Re: video dvd or blue ray?
I used to tape about ten VHS tapes full of stuff per week-dubbing movies and such. I quit taping things about 8-9 years ago. I had about 700 store bought and home taped, VHS tapes. About 2 years ago, I gave away over 500 of them. Im ever-so-slowly replacing those I really want-on DvD, and after I move house and learn how to copy my remaining tapes to Dvd, then im going to give the rest of my tape collection away. I think I still have about 180 or so tapes left?
As for DvDs, I think I have about 200 or so DvDs including several boxed sets, a few TV series, and Lord knowns how many movies and such. I don't have any Documentaries on DvD yet.
As for Blue Ray--i'm not rich enough to just dump my DvD collection and start over again. DvD is going to be the only format im going to collect-unless they come out with much smaller discs that hold the same-or more info, as regular DvDs.
I don't know if this is ever going to happen but, i'd like to see technology developed to have movies on micro-ships. I'd think that if they did, not only would space be saved but possibly when dubbing from one chip to another, maybe it would only take a few minutes instead of several hours. Also, it would be great to be able to carry your entire movie collection, in a shoe-box. ;-D
PS, I don't know if this has been thought about either but, i'd love to see a DvD player that could play in 1/1 scale 3D, any DvD that is currently available. The thought about this idea is that you could set-up the 3D player anywhere-outside as well, and have a life-sized 3D image of whatever is on the DvD. Or something like that ;-D
