Default Re: Here's something short, that ought to get you all thinking about....

Thanks for all your input Gents. Not to worry, I didn't take it too much on what the kid had said but, it was just such an unusual thing to hear a boy his age-to even know the word Nazi.

On the Confederate and C/battle flag part. I used to have and fly, an American flag, followed by a Confederate battle flag as well as a Jack-which I flew in my front yard of my house in Kingsville. I wish that some of you gents could have been there. I mean, not once did I have anyone say anything dissending towards flying the battle flag-as well as Old Glory. However, one of my neighbors called the Police on my because she thought I was flying the nazi flag-which she had mistaken the Jack to be. Well, I had been flying all three flags almost daily since moving to that house circa November 1991.

This is the same house I lived in where I also used to clean all my guns-in full view of anybody-in my front yard-including that Chinese made Uzi copy I once had. Well, I was inside my house watching the World Evening News (NBC to be exact) when I saw two cop cars drive up and stop on the street in front of my house as well as one stopped in my driveway. One policeman was busy taking Polaroid shots of my three flags flying and in order of precedence.

I walked outside to see whattheheckwasgoingon? and the Sergeant came over to me and started asking about the flags. I said well, of course there was Old Glory-at the top, then the CSA battle flag in the middle, and lastly, the Jack. I was asked why I was flying three flags-and simply put, I said because I could do so, that there was plenty of room on the flagpole, that all three flags represented my families heritage and that all three flags were red-white and blue.

I asked if there was something wrong with flying three flags-I knew two were OK but not sure if three were? The Sergeant told me there was nothing wrong with flying three flags-especially since they were done so in correct order. He then told me that someone said I was flying a nazi flag-to which I was not-and I had at the time, never even owned one. The sgt asked why I was flying the British flag, and I stated again-because it is part of my heritage.

Finally the sgt said it was all a big mistake and no big deal and that he wished me a nice day. When they left, I went inside and brought out my Pirate flag and added it to the ""collection.""

When I was outside, I always got thumbs-up and honks from passers-by-and every now and then, someone would stop by and ask if I were selling the battle flag-or any of the others.

Anyway, what that kid said to his mother, just struck my as a very odd thing for him to say. But knowing a few of the school teachers teaching in Kingsville, it would not have been a surprise to me to hear that even firstgraders-were being "indictrinated" to the beliefs of teachers who lean to the left. That's OK IMO but, there needs to be a balance on this so that opinions will be made-with open minds.
