Default Re: Indonesian National Revolution and the Allies 1945

It took the allies months to get to Java and some Japanese commanders actually gave their weapons to the Indonesian independantists rather than surrend them to the allies. These weapons were used against the Dutch and the Commonwealth troops in the following years. To be noticed: the first ( official independent) Indonesian stamps and curency etc.. were not issued until 1949 when the Dutch left. the Dutch kept New Guinea which was later uled by the UN and got their independence in 1962 after the UN administration (UNTEA)
