Andreas Seidel is an unknown quantity at this point
We all know that there were some very intriguing aircraft designs to be built in 1945-1946 that never made it, but what about the Kriegsmarine?

Were there any revolutionary ship or sub designs waiting to be built?

With Germany's advances in rocket technology, I could imagine a carrier ships for V2s or guided missiles. Were SAM launchers planned?

Hello Andreas--I know that the Kriegsmarine did have at least one uboat that they were trying and testing for the use of launching V1s and V2s. I saw a documentary several months ago that showed footage of a uboat crew trying to set up a V2 rocket to be fired from its deck. They had had alot of trouble with stabelizing it because of the movemant of the water, the narrowness of the launching platform (the uboats deck) and also because of the sea winds against the V2s height. They figured it was impracticable for V2s--I dont know if they considered V1s--most likly thought of but I dont know anything on that part.

Guys :

Have you heard about the un-finished projects ? XXIX to XXXI boots ? Closed cycle projects, XXIXK and XXXIII XXXIV and the oxygen fed turbine boots Types XXXV and XXXVI ? Last ones mentioned had fixed schnorkel designed by Grim and Kurzak and appears to have resemblance to many of the modern type boats found in the 60's and 70's.....
Midget subs in preparation were XXVII F-2 and Schwertal II and the Manta project.

Erich--and guess what, here is a bit of news I forgot to tell you about dealing with U 181. They had a Snorkel added to their boat, and were also going to be slated as a boat that was to be used for such research and testing purposes.

I had completely forgotten about that. A few of the vets had also mentioned that as well--and for some reason--DUH, it had not registered in my mind at what significance that is. I CAN get all the technical data from Dieter--as the senior Engineering Officer from that uboat. We can get what he remembers!
