Carl, it's not imperitive. Whenever, just thought it would be nice so I can add him to my Ost Preussian materials at the end of the war. I do want to do anrticle maybe for this site with oot's approval, of course this thing could be absolutely gigantic !
Friedrich, I tried the link twice and get some weird stuff about a slain girl gag !

Erich--I checked out the site that has a signed pic of Thiele for sale. For one--that is a GREAT price for a signed pic from an Admiral.
But I also learned a few things from looking at his picture and reading the caption.
He had been Kapitan on the LUTZOW (which I had not known. This was in 1940. I recently bought a pic of many officers that were taken on the Lutzow, Thiele might be in the picture. Ill have to check when I get to looking at my pictures again. The picture clearly showes the name of the ship--LUTZOW. I had also not known that he was an RKT untill looking at the pic. According to what the caption said--he finished the war as Commander in Chief of the Baltic Fleet in 1945.
Anyway--hope this helps you a bit.

Carl :
My provider is being hacked...... so am not sure how long I will be able to repsond to postings. Thanks for the tidbits of info, they all help and thanks to all so far who have posted help.
Carl, the English guy sold the pic as I was inteneding to purchase it or maybe even send the guy double for it, but alas it is now property of someone else......too bad ! His service in 1945 in the Baltic is what I am most interested in.

I think ALL hackers--need to have their hands removed.
Ill see if I can dig up more. Also, IF the Photo copier is still working at or working yet at Kinkos--ill get a copy of the pic I have of the officers on the Lutzow and send it to you with the other stuff.
