I'd heard of him but had no idea how much this man did for the Atlantic naval conflict. Almost single handedly this man determined the outcome of the "U-boat crisis". By the end of the war his task force sank 23 confirmed U-boat and damaged countless other. What can you guys dig up about him?

There's a whole website dedicated to this enigmatic personality. It's also worth looking out for a copy of the old book 'Walker R.N.' which was something of a best-seller in its day....

A much loved hero fondly remembered to this day in my old home town of Liverpool.

My dad used to tell me the stories of the homecomings to Bootle docks. He himself served on Corvettes at the time.

The Atlantic war museum at the pier head in Liverpool is one of the best naval museums I have ever seen.

When he was buried at sea, convoys in the Mersey all stood with crews at their rails and flags flying at half mast as the destroyer (I think it was a destroyer) sailed slowly out of the Mersey.

A truly great man
