Has anyone any idea why there is a grave in Ranville Cemetery in Normandy for Bombadier Henry Hall of the 53rd (Worcestershire Yeoamanry) Airlanding Light Regiment RA with a date of death of 5-6-1944.

Was there an 'advance party' that landed the day before D-Day or is it a mistake?

It's an interesting one, which I saw some years ago and tried to research myself, but have not got very far. Would be interested to see if you turn up anything, Niall.

Re: Henry Hall,
If you can find the adress to his regiment, they should be able to answer (am I right?)

Best regards / Mats

Since my original post I've found something out....he was part of a FOO party from 53rd A/L Regiment RA and was due to spot for naval gunfire support to 6th AB Div on 6th June.
He apparently deid on the glider on the flight over....his death certifcate states died....
whether this was from natural causes, friendly fire during the flight over the Channel is not konwn but apaprently he died on 5th June and landed dead in France on 6th June....

Regretfully the 1944 unit no longer exists.....
